Danger, Roosting in the Trees

by Franco Bertucci

"Laugh all you want," he said,
"but when you go walking
in these pine hills alone
and you hear an unearthly gobble
from behind and above
and feel the talons in your back-
you will know I was right,
but it will be too late.
They can fly and they hunt people.
These are wild turkeys."
