Death to the Machine

by Franco Bertucci

It is so very useful,
but indispensable-
no way.
I'm with it every day
but I hesitate before I turn the thing on,
every time.
It has a way of enslaving the air.

My friend says
it's ok to hate a thing,
if not the person who made it.
The same friend once set his up in the backyard
and shot it.
And buried it.

But I'm pretty sure he has a new one now.
