First Days at Sea
by Franco Bertucci
We know there's a person in there.
It becomes clearer every time
we have one.
And we watch, captivated.
Shocked and surprised
to find himself in such a state,
he flails, grasps and stares about,
searching for an anchor or bearing
in this strange vessel he barely knows-
launched into a sea he knows even less.
He'll be christened soon.Poems and other embarassing things. 2010 Franco Bertucci
