Little House in the Past
by Franco BertucciLots of wood smoke
and brushing of hair,
cold baths in the creek
once a week.
Father always out of doors
in foul weather and fair.
No machines, no wires,
not even any books to tire
the eyes-
but plenty of poetry.
Songs by the fire
on cold nights
and true stories. And plenty to eat in the morning
after chores.
Poems and other embarrassing things. 2012 Franco Bertucci
